Preston Guild Collectables - 1822
We are only aware of one 1822 commemorative item, a creamware mug, and no items at all from prior Guilds.
In 1822, fine porcelain was only available to the rich few, and the cheaper mass produced pottery market had only just begun.
The 1822 Mayor, Mr Grimshaw is the only Mayor to have presided over two Guilds, 1822 and the earlier one of 1802.
Sadly just before the 1822 Guild his two sons drowned and the Guild was presided over by Mr Grimshaw's daughter in the role of Mayoress, rather than his wife who had presided with him (somewhat flamboyantly) at the 1802 Guild.
